THE MATH
How role scoring works
The weight-to-score formula
Each category has a weight from 6 to 58 for each role. The game converts these values into a 0 to 100 role fit percentage using (weight - min) / (max - min), where min and max are the lowest and highest values for that role. For the first seat, Politicians have the max value of 58 and Porn Stars the min of 12. Athletes sit at 24, so their fit is (24 - 12) / (58 - 12) = 26%. That low percentage means Athletes contribute very little to the lead seat's role fit score.
The neutral fallback for unlisted categories
Wrestlers are missing from four of the five cabinet roles (all except General, where they score 38). When a category is not listed, the game uses (min + max) / 2 as a fallback. For the first seat that gives (12 + 58) / 2 = 35, which beats TV Hosts at 30. For Treasurer it gives (6 + 58) / 2 = 32, tied with Dictators and Commanders. Wrestlers are a hidden mid-tier option in most cabinet roles.
01
President
The first seat has the widest point spread of any cabinet role: 58 down to 12. Politicians (58) and Dictators (56) lead the table. Theists at 51 edge out Commanders at 50, which surprises players who assume religious figures make weak leaders in this game. Billionaires at 48 round out the top tier. Below that, every category drops to 30 or less. TV Hosts at 30, Comedians at 26, and Athletes at 24 are middling. Porn Stars at 12 are the worst. The combo bonus adds 11 for Politicians or Dictators, 8 for Commanders or Billionaires.
02
Vice President
VP is the only role with no tiered bonus. Its point range is the flattest: 14 to 40, a spread of just 26 points. Dictators top the list at 40, but putting a Dictator here wastes their value at President (56) or General (54). Theists and Billionaires tie at 37, making them decent VP picks when their better cabinet roles are already filled. The flat distribution means VP is where you lose the least by placing a candidate who is merely okay everywhere. Chefs (18), Thieves (16), and Porn Stars (14) are the only truly bad options.
A common mistake is treating VP as a dumping ground for your weakest pick. Sometimes that works, but a candidate with a rating of 34 (Atheists, TV Hosts, Athletes) does noticeably better than one at 22 (Rappers). If you have two mediocre candidates, put the slightly better one in VP and save the worse one for a role where the rating matters less to the overall formula.
03
General
Commanders (56) and Dictators (54) lead this table. Politicians at 48 are stronger here than most players expect, well above Athletes at 44 and Billionaires at 42. The bottom is brutal: Poets at 8 and Porn Stars at 6. Placing either of those here triggers a 14-point penalty on top of the already terrible fit. A Porn Stars General costs roughly 20 points compared to a Commanders General. Athletes and Billionaires are the best substitutes when no military candidate appears. The combo bonus adds 11 for Commanders or Dictators, 8 for Wrestlers or Athletes.
04
Propaganda Minister
This role has the strangest scoring table. Dictators rank first at 56, higher than any other position values them except President. Poets tie with TV Hosts at 54, which is shocking given that Poets rate 8 in General and 16 as President. Politicians at 52 and Pop Stars at 46 follow. The tiered bonus adds 11 for Pop Stars or TV Hosts, 8 for Rappers, Comedians, or Poets. Poets in this position are not a joke pick. They are the second-strongest category for this role.
The bottom of the table is equally surprising. Commanders rate only 32 here, despite being a strong pick there. Athletes drop to 22 and Chefs to 16. If your draft gives you a Poet, Propaganda Minister is the one position where they genuinely help instead of hurting it.
05
Treasurer
Billionaires lead at 58. Thieves are a surprising second at 46, far above Politicians at 38. Athletes at 34 edge out Dictators and Military Commanders, both at 32. The joke pick penalty here is 10 points for Poets or Porn Stars, lighter than General's 14 but still not worth it. The combo bonus adds 11 for Billionaires or Politicians, 8 for Thieves. If you draw a Billionaire early, Treasurer is where they belong, not VP.
Thieves at 46 is the biggest surprise in the Treasurer table. A Thieves pick here outperforms a Politicians pick by 8 rating points and matches the combo bonus tier at +8. If your draft gives you a Thieves candidate and no Billionaires, Treasurer is a better destination than VP, where Thieves score only 16.
CROSS-ROLE
Category versatility: which professions fill the most seats
Dictators are the most versatile category in the game. They score 56 as President, 54 as General, 56 as Propaganda Minister, 40 as VP, and 32 as Treasurer. Four cabinet roles give them top-tier or upper-mid scores. Politicians are nearly as flexible: 58 as President, 52 as Propaganda Minister, 48 as General, 38 as Treasurer, and 36 as VP.
At the other end, Chefs are the weakest category overall. Their highest value across all five roles is 18, and they never appear in any bonus tier. Pop Stars are specialists: strong only in Propaganda Minister at 46, middling everywhere else. Wrestlers, thanks to the neutral fallback, are quietly decent in four cabinet roles and explicitly ranked at 38 in General. They are a safer pick than their absence from the scoring tables suggests.
THE BIG PENALTY
The no-authority rule
If your five picks include zero Politicians, Dictators, or Commanders, the game multiplies your entire score by 0.65. A 150-point lineup drops to 98, and a 120-point lineup drops to 78. These three categories also happen to have high scores in the first three roles, so a lineup that avoids them entirely is probably bad in several cabinet roles already. The penalty piles on. Even a comedy lineup should grab one authority figure.
STRATEGY
Draft order strategy
The order of filling the five roles matters more than most players expect. The game does not spread penalties and bonuses evenly, so filling positions in the wrong order can lock out the best options.
Rounds 1-2: lock the penalized seats
Fill General and Treasurer first. These two roles have joke pick penalties, and their best categories (Commanders, Billionaires) are also useful elsewhere. If you waste a Commander on VP, you will struggle to fill General later.
Rounds 3-4: fill the bonus seats
President and Propaganda Minister have combo bonuses but no penalties, so the stakes are lower for these roles. It is safe to wait and see what the draft provides.
Round 5: Vice President
Leave VP for last. It has no tiered bonus and the flattest score distribution, so whoever is left costs you the least.
